NI PI or AI?

I need some info please….
OK I am aware of what is involved in all 3 options but what I would like to know is if you choose a donor who lives in your local area how do you go about arranging the insemination??
Firstly I do not think it would be appropriate to invite a total stranger to your home to allow the insemination to take place. Therefore I think NI or PI would be difficult to arrange without involving hotel rooms which makes the who process sound like prostitution of sorts. Go to a hotel room just to have sex. Makes it all sound like a totally somewhat bizarre and degrading meeting. However I believe PI or NI is the most successful method as the sperm will be ejaculated in the right place and closest to the cervix. Job done! I suppose this would really be down to a mutual trust built between myself and donor to allow this method.
Secondly, my understanding on the AI process is that when the sample is produced by the man via masturbation you have to wait for the sperm to liquidify before you attempt to suck up into syringe. So the easiest option here would be AI so that you could poss meet your donor in a public place where he goes off to the loo to do the business into a sterile cup then you take the sample and as soon as you get home inseminate same. However success rate here is less than with PI or NI.
I am also aware that either method may need several attempts at fertile time. How do we get round that as we are all busy people and I expect there to be times my donor will be working and cannot be available at the time I need him to be available.
Then it is the torture of the two week wait to add to the process. LOL!
It is a total minefield out there and I am trying to get my head round this but my need for a child is overpowering and I need to make a decision on which method is most suited to me.
Anyone able to help me make my mind up???

Having recently helped a woman become pregnant by NI perhaps I can shed some light, at least through my experiences.
1. Even with careful timing (eg monitoring LH etc) you cannot assume a single attempt will work. We met on consecutive days each month and she became pregnant after 3 months.
2. I am sure done by someone experienced AI can be effective. However I would not overlook the faff factor and I cannot see how it will be as effective as a method which lets face it has been working for a million or so years, in the hands of most of us.
3. As for the meeting in a hotel and feeling like a prostitute – all I would say is …. But you aren’t a prostitute. All the hysteria that surrounds sex – you are using it for its intended purpose – what is the problem? Maybe meeting in a hotel is seedy in so far as it reflects a lack of trust, but we all have different priorities and surely it is the end product that matters. We actually met at her house – she felt safer there. Howver we did meet somewhere neutral a week or two before to talk.
4. AI as practiced in a clinic is hardly a dignified process – fine if that is your only option, but otherwise why make things more complicated than they have to be?

success rates for NI, PI or AI are same. The myth that NI coneption rate is higher is normally spread by men who want to sleep with fertile women. In terms of location, it is always your place, his place or the hotel. It’s all built on trust.
With AI, most men would object to producing sperm in a loo. They would either do it at your place (bedroom), theirs or a hotel – the key feature is that they are alone, you are not present while they are producing. Once the sperm is produced it can be used for standard artificial insemination with a syringe, or intracervical insemination (ICI) with a speculum and pipette. My experience is that ICI has overall a somewhat better success rate, maybe because of the maximal concentration of sperm in the cervical canal.

A couple of points I should add. There is no evidence that IUI or ICI is more successful than natural methods – if there was the clinics would be shouting about it. On this emotive topic considerable confusion is generated by the distinction between do it yourself and clinic based services.
I am certainly not suggesting that ICI performed in a clinic is likely to be less successful than NI since it overcomes cervical mucus hostility (intercourse MAY also help this since the Os can open during intercourse). This said the “up suck” theory has been somewhat discredited based as it is on inadequate subjects, but this is a bit of a sensitive area to research. Anyway success rates for ICI are quoted as between 5-30% per cycle.
What I am suggesting is that If you are not going to a clinic then NI IS likely to be more successful, simply because the sperm are deposited in the right place, and the capacity to be all fingers and thumbs at the crucial moment does not exist.
My experience is that the woman whom I helped found the whole clinic experience pretty awful something compounded when they advised her to go away and find someone to get her pregnant “the normal way”. So she did.
FQ19 is completely right this does boil down to trust, as virtually everything does. But if you are going to trust the sperm I can’t see why you wouldn’t trust the person the sperm came from at least a bit? I mean if they are an axe murderer you don’t want the baby do you?
I would suggest to anyone trying to get pregnant to do the research themselves and do what they are comfortable with. Don’t take things at face value check them out. Everybody has an agenda especially those who pretend not to. An in the end of course the most important thing is you have a baby and can look at your child with joy and respect rather than shame or regret.

if your worried about meeting someone for the first time or for insemmination lots of proffesions are crb checked im a taxidriver i have to carry id on me all the time if your still worried take a female friend with you( she might get pregnant as well joke)
